DUI Boating

Boating Under the Influence or BUI

The summer is finally upon us.  During the summer, many people will enjoy time with friends and family on the various lakes and bays.  Unfortunately, some people will be arrested for boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  Boating DUI is considered a misdemeanor charge and should be treated seriously.  Often times, courts will require a boating safety course.

Although is it legal to drink alcohol on a boat in California, it is unlawful to operate a boat or PFD (personal flotation device) while impaired by alcohol by having 0.08% BAC or more. The Harbors and Navigation Code sets out the laws regarding California boating laws.

If you have been arrested for boating under the influence, please contact Morell Law Office for a free case evaluation.
