Diversion for DUI

A new law was signed by Governor Newsom this year that allows some misdemeanor charges to be diverted.  

What is diversion tho and are DUIs eligible?

Diversion is where the Judge requires certain things be done (DUI School, community service, etc) and then dismisses the DUI. It's a great outcome for people wanting to keep their criminal record clean.

DUIs are eligible for diversion.

Some Judges won't grant diversion on DUIs where there are prior DUIs, accidents, or a high blood alcohol content. It really is Judge specific. That's why it's important to hire a lawyer that is familiar with the court where you received your DUI.
