New law for veterans charged with a California DUI

Good news for veterans that have a California DUI charge pending.

California's new impaired driving diversion program for veterans

Penal Code Section 1001.80 (SB 1227) effective 1-15-15 creates a Combat Veteran's Pretrial misdemeanor Diversion Program. Certain veterans whose
PTSD, mental health, substance abuse and similar problems stem from their current or past military service may be eligible for the diversion program instead of jail.
